about us

The Rural Development Authority Board (RDAB) is a national body established to drive the transformation of Nigeria’s rural communities. Recognizing that over 60% of Nigerians live in rural areas, the Board was created to reduce inequality between urban and rural populations by improving infrastructure, boosting agriculture, and providing essential services.

Purpose of EstablishmentThe Rural Development Authority Board was founded with the purpose of:

Bridging the Development Gap:

Ensuring rural communities have access to the same opportunities and resources as urban centers.

Empowering Rural
Communities

Promoting self-reliance through skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and agricultural innovation.

Stimulating Economic Growth

Developing rural economies as engines of national growth by strengthening agriculture, small-scale industries, and trade.

Improving Quality
of Life

Delivering essential amenities such as clean water, electricity, healthcare, and education to underserved areas.

Protecting the Environment

Implementing sustainable projects that balance development with environmental conservation.

why we exist

Rural communities are the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, especially in food production and resource development. However, they often face challenges such as poor infrastructure, limited healthcare, low literacy levels, and inadequate energy supply. The RDAB exists to address these gaps and ensure that every Nigerian, regardless of location, can enjoy a decent standard of living and contribute to national development.

our role in nation-building

  • Partnering with local, state, and federal governments to execute impactful projects.
  • Collaborating with NGOs, international agencies, and private investors to scale rural initiatives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure accountability and transparency.
  • Serving as a bridge between rural dwellers and national policymakers.
